This week was a moment for celebration as more Covid-19 restrictions were lifted across the UK. What was the first thing you did?

As the vaccination programme continues to deliver and lockdown restrictions are eased in England, Wales and most of Scotland, a sense of cautious optimism is sweeping most parts of the United Kingdom. Whether it was hug with a loved one; socialising indoors; mixing with a larger group outside; or enjoying the opening up of the hospitality and entertainment sector, this next phase of freedom has been met with open arms.

The easing of travel restrictions was also a significant step in what is a gradual return to normality. In previous months it had become hard to imagine an overseas holiday but with the government’s new traffic light system also being introduced this week, those countries listed as ‘green light’ destinations are welcoming visitors from Britain once again, to the delight of many. May be a summer break in the sun will be possible after all?
