When we talk about what makes a business successful, culture often sits at the heart of the conversation. At Premium Credit, we’ve always believed that strong performance comes from creating an environment where our people feel welcomed, supported and able to do their best work.
Our recent Great Place to Work® certification reinforced what we already knew: culture isn’t defined by policies alone, but by everyday experiences. Through a thorough survey process, our colleagues tell us that Premium Credit is a physically safe place to work, that people are treated fairly, and that they feel valued from their very first day, among a range of other benchmarks. In a working world where connection and trust can be difficult to build, these results matter. They speak to a culture rooted in fairness, respect and inclusion, aspects we continually aim to achieve.
Listening to our people
A key element of our approach, and something we always strive for, is our commitment to listening. Regular engagement surveys give us a clear view of what’s working well and where people want more support. One message came through strongly: our colleagues want to continue learning, particularly in areas linked to change, adaptability and developing a growth mindset.
That feedback has directly shaped our approach to people development. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all training, we are focusing on practical, relevant support that helps people feel confident in their roles and prepared for what’s ahead.
Supporting growth and development
Our colleague feedback is being turned into action through a refreshed development strategy. For new starters, there is a strong emphasis on building technical capability early, helping people settle into their roles quickly and feel effective from the very start of their Premium Credit journey. Alongside this, additional support is being put in place to help teams adapt to new systems and ways of working, particularly during periods of change.
For those looking to progress, our leadership programme provides structured development and clear pathways for career growth. It’s designed to equip future leaders with the skills, mindset and confidence they need to take the next step.
Just as importantly, we are placing greater value on regular, meaningful performance conversations. Open, personalised discussions between colleagues and their line managers are helping clarify expectations, identify development opportunities and build trust. These conversations are a cornerstone of how we want to support individual growth.
Building confidence for the future
Culture is not static - it evolves as our people and our business grow. By listening carefully to colleagues and responding with thoughtful, practical development initiatives, we are committed to creating an environment where people feel confident, capable and ready for change as it arises.
There is always more to do, but our focus on people is what allows our culture to remain strong, relevant and built for the future, all with the aim of achieving the best outcomes for our partners.
